Most Promising Emerging Artist in a 2 Dimensional Media - Great Northern Arts Festival

Jennifer Walden is a successful visual artist living and working in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Her distinctive style explores Canadian and Northern life through people, wildlife and topography. Her work is deeply influenced by the natural and human environment, in particular the geography and culture of her immediate surroundings. Her contemporary expressionistic paintings capture the spirit of place, and often use string and rope blended with various acrylic media to create the deep sculptural relief that is her signature.
